I am Bad and That's Good

I will never be good, and that's not bad. There is no one I would rather be than me.

Hey, I'm Ralph- Wreck it Ralph! Wreckin's my job, so calm down I only wreck on the clock. If you get a chance you should go say hi to my buddy Felix.

[ Felix’s arms drop to his sides limply, one his eyebrows lifting in question — not that he’s opposed to the hug, per se, but Ralph’s never struck him as the cuddly type. As he speaks, though, that expression quickly drops and he musters a smile, if not for his sake then for Ralph’s own. ]

You came back in time. That’s all that matters now.

Sure, you made me embarrass myself…but that’s not as bad as having our game unplugged, so what can I say?

[It takes Ralph a moment, but he soon smiles as well, nodding a little. ]

Yeah, I guess you’re right.

Sorry again about that, by the way, heh. [He smiles nervously. ]

Well, Ralph’s searching for an explanation, isn’t he? Felix fiddles with his hat a little bit, but drops it quickly as he lets out a sigh, trying to ease the tension within him that’d built up just from seeing a duplicate of his old friend.

“We’ve been…unplugged for a while,” he answers, his voice soft. If there had been a smile on his face before, it’s completely absent now. “I had two games while Ralph — that is, the Ralph I know — was absent. The first one got the sign put on our game… The second one was while the repairman was in. I think I was the only one who had hope in it coming back, too. The other Nicelanders had already left before the second one took place, so I was left standing there hoping Ralph would miraculously come back…

“Somehow, I don’t think he fell asleep at Tapper’s.”

His lips twitch, but the expression is almost sardonic for the usually bright Felix. It falls as quickly as it appears.

“I don’t know why Ralph left. And…I wouldn’t be terribly offended if it was just to spite us. I just want him back… I don’t give mind to anything else. The other Nicelanders, however, don’t share my opinion on that; they’d rather he stay gone, and they keep believing he’s ruined us beyond repair. I guess he has, in a way. But still…”

He looks up at the wrecker earnestly.

“He’s my co-worker; more than that, he’s my friend. It doesn’t help that the last time I saw him, he was acting so…squirrely. I brushed it off as a one-time thing, but…”

He shakes his head.

“Boy, was I wrong about that.

“… I’m very sorry for rambling, sir. Anything you have to offer would be lovely. If you have any remote idea where he might have headed, I’m all ears. I need to find him as soon as possible. He’s all I have left…or will, at any rate.”

Ralph listens silently, his expression dropping into nothing short of depressed in appearance. He can’t believe this actually happened to someone he knew, and not just anyone, Felix, of all people. And it was his fault, or at least, the fault of another version himself. His mind just keeps going back to how this easily could have happened to him and his Felix. As the former Fix-It goes on however Ralph pulls himself out of his self-inflicted guilt trip, knowing that it won’t help any. He’s got to do what he can to at least improve things for this alternate of his friend. Ralph finds himself feeling glad that this Felix still wants his other self back, despite everything, and is determined for that to happen. The giant raises a hand when Felix apologizes again, gesturing for him to stop.

“You’re alright, you have every reason to ‘ramble.’ Now, um…the last night you saw him, was it your thirtieth anniversary party? I ask because, I need to know for sure if his situation was playing out like mine. If he had a fight with Gene about winning a medal I know exactly where he should be,” Ralph starts, pausing for a moment before continuing, “Sugar Rush.”

I-I don’t think so… But no one appears to be safe from it. Tikal had it, once or twice…

[ Sorry, Ralph, he’s still a bit of a pitiful sight. He’ll perk up eventually, but at the moment guilt is weighing him down — and it’s not as if there hadn’t already been some there to begin with. ]

It wasn’t me. But…it’s still my responsibility, isn’t it? Especially since whatever it was punctured at the very thing that I’m trying to fix with you — your reputation. You’re not less than any of us, myself included… I don’t want you for a second to believe otherwise.

[ He peers up at him, eyes wide and sincere. ]

That sounds wonderful

[He speaks with an air of sarcasm. No one was safe, huh? Great. He is relieved that it doesn’t seem to be a virus however, and he’s still plenty relieved that Felix wasn’t glitching. ]

Ah…I don’t know if you can say it’s your responsibility. You were being controlled, and, I think all you can do is just apologize to everyone and make sure they know you didn’t mean it. And, yeah…it…it did touch on a sensitive topic, but…If it makes you feel any better I didn’t believe it. I didn’t believe anything you said when you were that way.

The Witch looks up and bites her lip - good god, he’s tall; and since she’s a little bit under five feet, even taller in comparison. “No, I’m fine; I’m just…tired.”  The hand using the wall for balance tenses, but she uses the other hand to sweep the tails of her hood behind her.  ”Not that I’m aware of, no…why?  Should I be worried?”

She seems genuinely curious, interestingly enough.  Perhaps the odd girl wasn’t aware of her glitching.  And indeed, up close, she has some strange - it’s hard to define, hard to explain, but her face is blank and schooled; and the edges of her very being seem…frayed.

Ralph just raises an eyebrow at her, clearly not convinced. “What d’ya mean ‘why?’ You just glitched, or well, it looked like it anyway. You fizzled a little, and I saw your code, which didn’t look too good,” he explains, “What game are you from?”

Her eyes widened a bit as Ralph took hold of her small figure, sitting her upon his lap. A light giggle escaped her lips as he went on. Man, Ralph always knew just how to make Vanellope smile no matter what the situation or circumstance. He truly was the number one person the coded princess would forever admire, no matter what he was coded to be. Besides, being the bad guy that he is, it had a few perks believe it or not— And it was only all the more realized after their little adventure was over. That never meant a new one wouldn’t appear just around the corner though.

“And I’d be more than glad to do that all over again stink brain.”

She mimicked his words in a bit of a teasing manner, while then using her small arms to grip around his belly. The small racer nuzzled her face into him, unsure of how he’d react, but at the same time she felt this was only a natural response to his sweet words. Man— It was kinda funny hearing the big guy give her compliment after compliment. Not that she was complaining of course— Just, overwhelmed her heart a bit. Once she finished her rapid snuggles, Vanellope eased back looking up into the wrecker’s eyes, a hint of admiration shown within her own.

“Well that’s good to hear you still have it. If I didn’t know any better, I thought you might’ve tried eating a bit of it out of curiosity  I wouldn’t have blamed you though with that santa tummy of yours.” Vanellope snicked patting her hands gently along his stomach. Soon after, a moment of silence picked up between them, tilting her gaze back up at Ralph once more.

“… We’re a pretty good team, huh Ralphy?”

Ralph chuckled when Vanellope mimicked him, though his laughter was cut short as he felt her tiny arms around his belly. The hug was a little surprising, but not unwelcome, and the giant chuckled lightly again, before gently putting one hand around Vanellope’s back to return the gesture. Ralph still found it amusing that someone like him would have such a sweet, though mischievous, little girl for a friend, and he couldn’t be more grateful about it.

“Heh, I gotta admit it was a little tempting, but come on, it’s the only medal I got,” Ralph responded with a smirk, of course leaving out the more sappy part about how it was too important to him to eat. “Hey! Who has a Santa tummy, grease head?” he teased, gesturing to Vanellope’s hair. After doing so he laughed once more, and then nodded, a proud look on his face.

“You bet we are, pipsqueak. Best team in the arcade!”

sergeanttammycalhoun sent: "WRECK-IT!" Calhoun yelled, wandering to her friend's animated self and giving him a hard push-but not too hard-as an annoyed look crossed her features. "If you were a human, what do you think you'd be doing?"

[Normally he wouldn’t be surprised by the way Calhoun approached him, or the yelling, or the annoyed look, but…while this person sounded like Calhoun they didn’t look like her. Well, she sort of did, but did she get a graphics update or what? ]

Uuuh…[He’s unable to reply for a moment as he raises an eyebrow. ]

Human? You mean like one of the players? I dunno, I’ve never thought about that, um…Calhoun, what happened to you? You look way different!

vanellope-von-awesome sent: Vanellope skips up to the large man and taps the back of his leg, "Excuse me, behemoth. Have you seen my smelly, ape-like friend around here?" She snickers, holding her hands behind her back in an attempt to look innocent.

[At first Ralph is a little confused at seeing yet another Vanellope, but then catches on to her little game and grins, placing his hands on his hips. ]

Hmm, why no, I don’t believe I have. Any chance you’ve seen my short little, candy-monkey friend?
